Welcome to South Africa’s official portal for national and global animal Species Red List Assessments. Managed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) in partnership with research institutions, conservation NGOs, and the IUCN South Africa Species Specialist Group, this platform documents our rich species diversity and tracks extinction risk using the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (v3.1).
