An arboreal species found on trees and other vertical structures, even in close proximity to human habitation (Bauer et al. 1993). Often found along dry river courses in arid savanna, up to altitudes of 1,000 m, and occasionally in sympatry with Trachylepis sparsa (Broadley 2000).
