Notes

Two distinct geographic populations exist. Labeo ruddi was described from the Limpopo River System in South Africa and is also recorded from the Cunene River on the Angolan-Namibian border. The taxonomic status of the Cunene population needs urgent examination as it may represent a distinct species.
