Terrestrial
Inhabits savanna, lowland forest and riverbanks, as well as shrubby vegetation and rocky regions. It is an excellent climber and forages in shrubs and bushes (Branch 1998, Marais 2004). Occupies crevices in rock outcrops, holes in trees and large, old termitaria, and is also found under tree bark, at altitudes as high as 2,000 m a.s.l. (Jacobsen 1989).
