Brown's Agile Grasshopper is found in the North of Limpopo (South Africa) and southern Zimbabwe. It is possibly also extant in the most eastern part of Botswana. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is ca 170,000 km². The species is mainly found on open, sandy patches in Acacia savanna and, therefore, probably not sensitive to deforestation. However, more research into its habitat requirements and threats is needed. Because of its large EOO (and presumably also area of occupancy), it is unlikely to meet the thresholds of a Red List criterion. Thus, the species is assessed as Least Concern.
Distribution
Amblyphymus rubidus is found in southern Zimbabwe and the north of Limpopo province in South Africa. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is ca 170,000 km².
No population information exists for this species. It has been reported relatively rarely, suggesting that it may not be very common.
Threats
The species might be affected by conversion of its habitat into farmland in parts of its range.
Uses and trade
The species is not utilised.
Conservation
No specific conservation action exists for this species, but it occurs in protected areas. Research into its distribution, habitats, threats and population trend is required.
