The Rose-winged Agile Grasshopper is widespread in the northern part of South Africa, reaching the southeast of Botswana. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is ca 200,000 km². As it appears to be common and widespread it is unlikely to meet the thresholds of a Red List criterion. It is therefore assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Distribution
Amblyphymus roseus is found in the North of South Africa and the Southeast of Botswana. A record from the Northern Cape Province ("Hopetown") is here considered as uncertain. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is ca 200,000 km².
No specific data on the population size or trend of this species is available. As there are a rather high number of records it is assumed to be common.
Threats
The species might be locally affected by urbanisation in the Johannesburg/Pretoria region. It might also be affected by conversion of its habitat into farmland.
Uses and trade
The species is not utilised.
Conservation
No specific conservation action is in place for this species, but it occurs in protected areas (Fossey 1991). Research into its distribution, habitat requirements, threats and population trend is needed.
