Rationale

The Richtersveld Katydid is Vulnerable under criteria B1 and B2 because its extent of occurrence and area of occupancy are relatively small (150 and 24 km2, respectively), it has only been recorded in six known locations, and the area, extent and quality of its habitat are expected to be in decline. This species has only been recorded in and around Richtersveld National Park, which is intensively grazed with livestock and threatened by climate change.

Distribution

The Richtersveld Katydid (Africariola longicauda) is endemic to the Richtersveld National Park, Northern Cape Province, South Africa, and areas immediately adjacent to it.
