Rationale
The threat status of the Northern Armoured Katydid is Least Concern because it has a relatively large extent of occurrence and area of occupancy and, due to its geographic distribution within the extensive and stable Kruger National Park, E. transvaalensis is not expected to be severely fragmented or to experience decline or extreme fluctuations presently or in the foreseeable future.
Threats
The greatest threat to this species is habitat destruction, but due to its widespread distribution in relatively sparsely inhabited regions which are not under direct threat of development or cultivation, it is not directly threatened. Also, its distribution range is centred around Kruger National Park which contains a great deal of stable, suitable habitat, ensuring the survival of this species for the foreseeable future.
