This taxon is endemic to the Western Cape Province, South Africa (EOO 3 642 km<sup>2</sup>). It has at least 23 subpopulations and has no threats as it occurs in mountainous terrain. Currently it qualifies under IUCN criteria as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to the Western Cape Province in South Africa, on both sides of the Swartberg mountain range from the Seweweekspoort area near Ladismith in the west to the Meiringspoort area near De Rust in the east, to the Huis River Pass and Gamkasberg Nature Reserve near Calitzdorp.

There are twelve clusters of subpopulations, as follows: 1. Schoemanspoort south of the Swartberg mountains - three subpopulations. 2. Northern side of the Swartberg Pass - one subpopulation. 3. Hekkieskloof to the north-west of Calitzdorp - four subpopulations. 4. Seweweekspoort - Besemfontein Nature Reserve and Die Poort Nature Reserve - two subpopulations. 5. Gamkasberg Nature Reserve south-west of Oudtshoorn - two subpopulations. 6. Huis River Pass west of Calitzdorp - four subpopulations. 7. Koetzerskraal in Wildehondekloof - one subpopulation. 8. Buffel Rivier Poort north of Ladismith - one subpopulation. 9. Upper northern side of Swartberg mountains west of Meiringspoort - one subpopulation. 10. Southern slopes of Swartberg mountains west of De Hoek - one subpopulation. 11. Oukloofberge and Gamkaskloof south of Prince Albert - two subpopulations. 12. Matjiesvlei west of Calitzdorp - one subpopulation.

Threats

There are currently no threats to this species. All of its known locations are in mountainous terrain and in a nature reserve.

Conservation

No conservation actions recommended. Occurs in the Swartberg and Gamkaberg Nature Reserves.
