Endemic to southern Africa, this species is known from the Namibian plateau, Botswana and the northern and central parts of South Africa (Branch 1998). It may also occur peripherally in adjacent Zimbabwe and Mozambique. In South Africa it is found in the Northern Cape, Free State, North-West, Gauteng, Limpopo and western Mpumalanga provinces (Bates et al. 2014).
