Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

This species is primarily found in areas that have not undergone substantial habitat transformation.  Although parts of the range are intensively mined for diamonds in Namibia, most of the distribution falls within Sperrgebiet buffer zones that are protected from public access and are not mined. Within South Africa the distribution is small (extent of occurrence ca. 1,600 km2), but there is no evidence of declines. This species is therefore currently considered Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to southern Namibia (Lüderitz district) and the adjacent northwestern Richtersveld of the Northern Cape, South Africa (Broadley 1968, Haacke 1986, Bauer and Branch 2003 [2001], Bates et al. 2014). The extent of occurrence in South Africa is small, ca. 1,600 km2.
