Widespread and common, not subject to major extrinsic threats. At least half of its distribution is under protection  within the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Distribution

Endemic to southern Africa, occurring in the Mier Kalahari region of the Northern Cape, South Africa, and adjacent southeastern Namibia and southwestern Botswana (Broadley 1968, Bates et al. 2014).
