Widepsread and abundant, occurring in a number of Protected Areas. It is therefore considered Least Concern.

Distribution

This species is now restricted to eastern South Africa, eastern and southern Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique; possibly southeastern Botswana. Within South Africa it is found in the Eastern Cape, Free State, North-West, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces (Weinell and Bauer 2018)
