Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

Widespread and generally common, with no major threats; therefore considered Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to southeastern Africa. Distributed from Zambia and Malawi southwards to Zimbabwe and adjacent parts of Mozambique and Botswana, Eswatini (Swaziland) and South Africa (Branch 1998). It occurs in the South African provinces of Limpopo, Mpumalanga (northern and eastern) and KwaZulu-Natal (northern), with a single record in extreme northern North-West Province (Bates et al. 2014). Jacobsen (1989) also recorded the species in North-West Province, but he noted that this outlier record was probably the result of a translocation, and is  therefore not included in the current distribution.
