This species is widely distributed and locally abundant. There are no substantial threats at present.
Distribution
Meroles suborbitalis is widely distributed from north-central Namibia southwards to the Tankwa Karoo and southeastern Great Karoo (Branch 1998, Bates et al. 2014). In South Africa it occurs in the Northern and Western Cape provinces (Bates et al. 2014).
