Rationale
(Changed due to Same category and criteria)
Some local populations may be threatened by agricultural activities that impact habitat quality and extent. However, a large portion of this species distribution in South Africa is within less impacted areas, including the Richtersveld National Park, so this species is not considered to be at risk.
Distribution
Occurs throughout most of the southern Namib Desert of Namibia south of Walvis Bay, peripherally entering South Africa in the sandy region south of the Orange River (Branch 1998, Bates et al. 2014).
Although this species occurs in protected areas in South Africa, agricultural activities near the Orange River have negatively impacted some areas of sandy habitat that this species requires (Bauer and Branch 2003 [2001]).
Uses and trade
There is no known utilization.
Conservation
Survey suitable habitat south of the Orange River to improve information regarding this species distribution and whether agricultural activities pose a threat.
