Widespread and common, with no significant threats, thus assessed as least Concern.

Distribution

This species occurs across much of sub-Saharan Africa, more-or-less continuously from western Namibia (exclusive of the Namib and pro-Namib), across Botswana and Zimbabwe to Mozambique (exclusive of coastal regions). Its distribution further north is poorly documented but extends to at least 8°S. It has been recorded from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (see Bates et al. 2014). Within South Africa it occurs in the Northern Cape Province in the Richtersveld, adjacent lower Orange River valley and the Mier Kalahari. It is also found in northeastern  Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
