Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

Common and not threatened throughout its range, much of which falls in semi-arid areas with very low agricultural or urban impact.

Distribution

Found throughout much of the central Kalahari of Botswana and adjacent Northern Cape Province and Namibia, extending up to the western parts of Caprivi Strip, western Zimbabwe and southern parts of Zambia. with an isolated record in north-western Namibia (Broadley and Rasmussen 1995, Branch 1998, Broadley and Van Daele 2003, Bates et al. 2014, Pietersen et al. 2017). Recently collected in south-eastern Angola (W. Conradie pers. comm.). The single isolated  record in Limpopo Province, from ‘near Mopane’, is based on an ‘unconfirmed report illustrated by photos’; the area has suitable relict patches of Kalahari sand, but no specimens were found during surveys in the 1970s/1980s (Jacobsen 1989: 257).
