This is a common and widespread species found in many of the official protected areas in South Africa.

Distribution

This species has a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa; found in  Kenya, Tanzania, southeastern Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini (Swaziland) and northeastern South Africa (Broadley and Bauer 1998, Broadley 2000). In South Africa it occurs in northern KwaZulu-Natal, northeastern Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the northern parts of Gauteng provinces (Bates et al. 2014).
