As a species, Amblyodipsas micropthalma is relatively widespread in eastern Limpopo and northeastern KwaZulu-Natal provinces, South Africa as well as interlinking southern Mozambique. Large parts of the distribution of this species in South Africa fall within Protected Areas. As such, the species is listed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Ranges from eastern Limpopo Province, South Africa, through southern Mozambique, into the northeastern regions of KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. The species may also occur in Eswatini (Swaziland) and Zimbabwe although no records exist from these countries (Bates et al. 2014).
