Rationale

This species has been found at only two sites within 5 km of each other. It is not known if this represents its actual range, or if it might be more widespread. It is therefore considered Data Deficient.

Distribution

To date, this species has been found only between Abel Erasmus Pass and Bourke’s Luck on the Eastern Escarpment of Limpopo Province, South Africa (Jacobsen et al. 2014). These sites are just 5 km apart, so it is impossible to determine this species' actual distribution.

Threats

The species has been found in one area locally, so the threats are unknown.

Uses and trade

No known trade in this species.

Conservation

 Given Afroedura rondavelica is Data Deficient, information regarding whether this species has a small range, or could be more widespread is the first step of essential information required to complete an assessment of this species status.
