This species is fairly widespread (extent of occurrence more than 17,000 km2) and  habitat fragmentation within its range is negligible, with no know population declines. The species is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to the Waterberg and surrounding areas in Limpopo Province, South Africa (Jacobsen 1989).

There is negligible habitat alteration within this species range, it occurs in many protected areas, and it is not in trade, so there are no known tangible threats.

This species is listed in CITES Appendix II, but it has not been recorded under CITES as traded (UNEP-WCMC 2017) .

 This species is listed in CITES Appendix II; it occurs in some protected areas. None recommended at present.
