Population trend

Trend

No information on population size or trends is available, but the species is inferred to be stable given that there are no tangible threats in its range.

Threats

There are minor threats of alien plant infestation and poor fire management in the fynbos sections of the range.

Uses and trade

This species is listed in CITES Appendix II, Only four wild caught individuals have been exported from South Africa for pet trade in 1992 so the pet trade is not considered a threat (UNEP-WCMC 2017).  In the 1980s, 100 animals were reported as exported for trade from Tanzania, but this species does not occur there. These likely represent an export of a cordylid species from Tanzania exported under the name Namazonurus peersi.

Conservation

This species is listed in CITES Appendix II; it occurs in one protected area. No conservation actions are recommended.
