Cordylus minor is considered Least Concern as there are currently no significant threats to its habitat and it is not considered to be in decline.

Distribution

Endemic to the western Karoo in the Western and Northern Cape provinces, South Africa, from the Komsberg range in the north to Matjiesfontein in the south (Branch 1998, Bates et al. 2014).

No information on population size or trend is currently available, but the species is inferred to be stable. It has a relatively large distribution in areas that are not heavily impacted.

Threats

Although the  range is relatively small, there are no tangible threats at present.

Uses and trade

This species is listed in CITES Appendix II but there is no recorded trade (UNEP-WCMC 2017).


Conservation

This species is listed in CITES Appendix II; it is not known to occur in any protected areas. Given this species is part of a complex, improved information relating to taxonomy and distribution would be beneficial.
