Rationale
(Changed due to New Information|Knowledge of criteria)
Although this taxon has a small range (extent of occurrence (EOO = 199 km2), it is not currently experiencing any major threats and its habitat is not in decline. It is therefore considered Least Concern.
Distribution
Endemic to the Rooiberg in the Kamiesberg range near Garies in Namaqualand, Northern Cape, South Africa (Mouton and Van Wyk 1994, Bates et al. 2014).Decline

Threats
There is no information available on population size, but its small distribution and limited dispersal ability could make this species prone to habitat changes should they occur in the future. It also appears to be a mesic-adapted species whose micro habitat might well be one of the first to be threatened by predicted aridification given its small, montane distribution. However, there are no immediate tangible threats at present.
Uses and trade
This species is listed in CITES Appendix II. Only 11 individuals have been exported from the wild since 2006, with none prior to that time, and of these, none were for pet trade (UNEP-WCMC 2017). The exports were for scientific purposes and ‘hunting trophy’ (=pet trade?). Regardless, trade should not be considered a threat to this species at present.
Conservation
This species is listed in CITES Appendix II; it is not known to occur in any protected areas. Conduct field surveys to provide a better estimate of range size and whether there are any tangible threats that should be quantified.
