This species has a small range (extent of occurrence is 3,368 km2) but is fairly common with much of its distribution falling within a protected area (iSimangaliso Wetland Park). It is therefore assessed as Least Concern. 

Distribution

Endemic to northeastern KwaZulu-Natal, South African. Found from the Mozambique border at Kosi Bay southwards to St. Lucia village (Bates et al. 2014). Specimens from Durban and Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve, were probably misidentified or may represent a new species. Not yet found in southern Mozambique.

Populations are inferred to be stable given that species is common and found primarily within a large protected area.

Threats

No known threats, as most of its distribution falls within the protected iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Not known to be utilized or traded in any way.

Conservation

No recommendations at present, although it would be useful to survey southern Mozambique to determine if the species occurs there.
