Has a large range (extent of occurrence ca 34,000 km2) and is abundant despite there being heavy habitat alteration in some areas. Because it is widespread and abundant, it is considered Least Concern.

Distribution

A South African endemic that occurs in the Western Cape Province from Mossel Bay in the east to near Saldanha Bay in the west, with records from Robben Island (Bates et al. 2014). There appear to be five distinct subpopulations, with substantial gaps between some of them.
