This species has a moderately sized range (extent of occurrence more than 10,000 km2), and is considered to be abundant. There is some habitat modification within its range, but most of the habitat is intact, and the species range includes several protected areas. They are not considered to have any threats, hence assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa where they are restricted largely to the Algoa Bay region, from Cape St. Francis in the west to Port Alfred in the east (Bates et al. 2014).
