Very widespread with an extent of occurrence of nearly 532,000 km2. The species is often abundant, with no substantial threats to its habitat.

Distribution

Endemic to South Africa and Lesotho, extending from southern Mpumalanga Province through the eastern Free State Province, western KwaZulu-Natal Province, Lesotho, southern parts of the Northern Cape Province, and throughout most of the Eastern and Western Cape provinces (Bates et al. 2014). There is an isolated, northern record (Rietfontein) in western Mpumalanga (Jacobsen 1989).
