Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

A widespread and common species with no substantial threats, and it is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Near endemic to South Africa, extending into  extreme southeastern Botswana (Broadley 1997, Bates et al. 2014). It occurs in the western half of the Free State Province, the immediately adjacent Northern Cape Province, North-West Province and the western half of Limpopo Province. Also recorded from the south bank of the Orange River in the Eastern Cape Province (in Broadley 1997). Distribution appears to largely coincide with Highveld grassland and Kalahari bushveld, but the species also occurs along the Vaal River and along the Limpopo River on the border with Botswana. The extent of occurrence (EOO) is estimated as 237,305 km2 .
