This species has a small range (extent of occurrence = 1,550 km²), but it occurs in the Soutpansberg mountains where there are no substantial threats to its habitat. It is therefore considered Least Concern.

Distribution

This species is found in the Soutpansberg mountains, Limpopo Province, South Africa (Jacobsen 1992, Bates et al. 2014). A visual/photographic record  from Lajuma Peak in the Soutpansberg may be referable to  Lygodactylus incognitus (Bates et al. 2014).

The species is inferred to be stable, as it occurs in the Soutpansberg moutains, most of which is not impacted by habitat transformation. The eastern margin of the mountains has been moderately transformed, but the majority of the distribution is intact.

Carry out detailed surveys to assess range and habitat requirements. The range coincides with one protected area.
