Relatively widespread and common in the varied habitats occupied. There is some habitat alteration in its range, but it occurs in several protected areas, hence this species is assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to southern Africa, occurring in South Africa and Eswatini [Swaziland] (including the Lebombo Mountains), but probably also southern Mozambique (Branch 1998, Bates et al. 2014). In South Africa, it occurs in northeastern KwaZulu-Natal Province and the extreme eastern portion of Mpumalanga Province (Jacobsen 1989, Bourquin 2004, Jacobsen et al. 2014).
