Has a small distribution with an extent of occurrence of  1,347 km2. However, the species is found in areas that have little habitat alteration so it is not considered to be in decline. This species is therefore considered Least Concern.


Distribution

Endemic to the Western Cape, South Africa. Restricted to a narrow belt of dolerite rocks and montane grassland on the summit ridge of the Nuweveldberg (Good et al. 1996, Branch 1998, Bates et al. 2014).

The species is considered stable, and not fragmented. Most of the distribution falls in an area that has little impacts so the habitat is essentially intact.

There are no significant threats.

Uses and trade

Not known to be utilized in any way.

Conservation

A significant part of the range occurs in the Karoo National Park, a protected area. The distribution is not well understood, so surveys in adjacent areas along the escarpment for the species would be useful to better understand its extent of occurrence .
