This species has a small range (extent of occurrence <10,000 km2) and although the western portion its range has a fair bit of habitat transformation, the majority of the known range has little impacts due to habitat loss and degradation. It is considered Least Concern.


Distribution

Endemic to Limpopo Province, South Africa, where it is restricted to mopane veld around the Soutpansberg (Bates et al. 2014).

The species is inferred to be stable and not fragmented, given that most of the distribution has little land transformation.

Threats

In the western portion of the range, there is clearance for agricultural use, extraction of mature trees for firewood, wood carving and charcoal production.

This species is not used or traded.

Conservation

Gather better habitat and distribution data, as well as information on habitat preferences to determine if the species is a specialist that could be impacted by harvesting of trees.
