The Southern Highland Hawker is wide spread from coastal and montane forests of eastern Africa down to South Africa. It is hence listed as LC and unlikely to qualify for a higher threat category in the near future.
Distribution
The Southern Highland Hawker occurs from southern Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi down to north-eastern South Africa, mainly in forests of the Eastern Arc Mountains.

Deforestation and pollution of streams are the major threats to Zosteraeschna usambarica.

This species isn't utilised.
Conservation
Stop deforestation, promote reforestation in water catchement areas, allowing a 10m strip of natural vegetation along rivers and streams, construction of sewage works and information on the importance to keep streams and rivers clean
