Trithemis dorsalis is a widespread species with no known major widespread threats and it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a threatened category. It is assessed as Least Concern.
Distribution
Trithemis dorsalis is common in the highland areas of eastern Africa, ranging from the Cape in South Africa to Kenya and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Old records from Sierra Leone and Guinea are considered erroneous.
