This is a widespread species with no known major threats and it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a threatened category. Therefore, it is listed as Least Concern.
Distribution
This species has been recorded from Kenya to northeastern South Africa and Namibia and westwards to Senegal.
Drainage and destruction of swampy habitats due to agriculture and water pollution are the main plausible threats to the species. However, this species is unlikely to be under threat across its whole range.
Uses and trade
This species is not used.
Conservation
In southern Africa, this species occurs within protected areas across its range.
