Rationale

Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, tolerance of broad range of habitats and presumed large population.

Distribution

This species ranges from southern Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Central African Republic, South Sudan, northern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Angola. There is a question of its occurrence in southern Ethiopia (Poynton et al. 2016) and its presence still has to be confirmed but it is presumed to occur in Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, DRC, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi.

It is very common in many parts of its range.

Threats

Some populations of this species are no doubt affected by environmental degradation, including urban and agricultural development and loss of indigenous forest. However, it is widespread, adaptable and is not considered to be seriously at risk.
