Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, tolerance of a broad range of habitats and its presumed large population.

Distribution

This species ranges from Lake Mbaratumu in south-central Kenya, through eastern and southern Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and eastern Zimbabwe, to Swaziland to KwaZulu-Natal in eastern South Africa, south as far as Port Edward. It is a low-altitude species that is recorded up to 1,000 m asl in Tanzania.

Afforestation, sugar cane farming, and urban spread are affecting certain populations in South Africa. However, overall this species is not significantly threatened.
