Terrestrial

Mainly associated with river courses and most often found under bark on dead trees or in association with dry, dead, fallen or standing trees. However, also found under debris in areas of human activity (Bauer and Branch 2003 [2001]). In South Africa, it occurs from near sea level to at least 1,200 m. It also occurs at elevations as high 1,500 m in parts of Namibia (Bates et al. 2014).
