Peringueyacris namaqua inhabits the succulent Karoo vegetation biome, a type of semi-desert. Documented host plants for Peringueyacris namaqua include Pentzia incana and Eriocephalus aspalathoides. It is the smallest of the bladder grasshopper species (Dirsh 1965). Alternate male morphs (sneaker males) have been documented for Peringueyacris namaqua (Donelson 2007) and, unlike other species, these appear to be proportionately common, as they are more numerous in museum collections than primary males. These alternate males were originally described by Dirsh (1963) as a separate species, Pneumoracris browni.
SANBI is currently in the process of adding more information about species to this database.
