This species has a wide distribution, with no known major widespread threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Distribution

This species is known from the middle and lower Zambezi River south to the Phongolo River in South Africa. It is absent from the upper Save, and recent surveys in Swaziland did not collect it, however it may be naturally on the edge of its range in Swaziland, and hence occurs in low abundances.
