Although this snake is not common, it has a fairly wide distribution in South Africa and occurs in numerous Protected Areas in the western parts of Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Distribution

Widespread in the northern parts of southern Africa. Recorded from Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa (Broadley 2002). In South Africa it is known from the western parts of Limpopo, reaching Waterpoort in the north (Bates et al. 2014).

The population is suspected to be stable.

Threats

Some areas of this species distribution are under heavy habitat transformation, however, the distribution is large and it occurs in a number of Protected Areas.
