Widespread and well protected within its regional range, primarily within the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Distribution

Endemic to sub-Saharan Africa. Found in northeastern South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan (Broadley 1990, Branch 1998). Within South Africa it is restricted to the northern and eastern parts of Limpopo and northeastern Mpumalanga provinces (Bates et al. 2014).
