Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

This species is widespread inside and outside South Africa, with no known tangible threats.

Distribution

Endemic to southern Africa. Most of the range lies north of South Africa in southwestern Angola, Namibia and southern Botswana (Broadley 1997). In South Africa, it is found in Limpopo, Gauteng, western Mpumalanga, North-West Province and Northern Cape provinces (Broadley 1997, Bates et al. 2014) with a large extent of occurrence  of more than 460,000 km2. There are a few other records that are considered questionable because of possible confusion with other species of Monopeltis.
