Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

Although the species has a relatively restricted distribution in South Africa, it is not known to be experiencing population declines or habitat loss and is tolerant of habitat transformation. Its range in the South Africa constitutes less than a third of its global distribution.

Distribution

This species occurs in South Africa and Zimbabwe. In South Africa, it is found in the Limpopo River valley, extending east into the extreme northern parts of the Kruger National Park (Bates et al. 2014). In southern Zimbabwe, it is found north to the Khami Ruins and Matopos Hills. A possible relict subpopulation in the Lillie Nature Reserve (Jacobsen 1989) and vicinity in southeastern Limpopo is considered part of its distribution , but its taxonomic status requires further investigation.
