This species has a moderately sized distribution in northeastern KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa (extent of occurrence < 20,000km2) and adjacent southern Mozambique, this species is fairly common where it occurs  and a large part of its range falls within protected areas, notably iSimangaliso World Heritage Site. It is therefore considered Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to South Africa and Mozambique. Found from Inhambane in southern Mozambique to Richards Bay in northeastern KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa (Broadley 1990, Bates et al. 2014).

Decline

Appears to inhabit largely continuous habitat in protected areas in South Africa.

No known threats to this species, which occurs largely within protected areas.
