Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

Widespread and common within its overall range in South Africa and Eswatini [Swaziland], with no known reduction in distribution or major threats to habitats. The species is therefore considered Least Concern.

Distribution

This species is near-endemic to South Africa, with some records in western Eswatini [Swaziland]. It is found from the Eastern Cape Province, northwards through KwaZulu-Natal, eastern Mpumalanga and into northern Limpopo. The northernmost population is isolated in the Soutpansberg mountain range (Jacobsen 1989), but survey record from the Wolkberg fills a distribution gap between the Soutpansberg and northern Mpumalanga localities (Bates et al. 2014).
