Red List of South African Species

Alternatively, Explore species
Least Concern (LC)

Rationale (Changed due to Same category and criteria)

A widespread species with a large extent of occurrence (ca 292,000 km2), and no substantial threats to its habitat at present. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Distribution

Endemic to South Africa, occurring widely over the southern interior from the Orange River in the north to Anysberg in the south and Graaff -Reinett in the east (Bates et al. 2014). Historical, observation records of Pedioplanis laticeps (as Eremia capensis) from localities of the Western Cape coast (Papendorp, Hondeklipbaai and Kleinsee; Burrage 1978) were probably due to mis-identification with Meroles knoxii (Branch 1990, Bates et al. 2014).
