Widespread (extent of occurrence ca 117,000 km2) and common with no major threats, hence is assessed as Least Concern.

Distribution

A southern African endemic occurring from in South Africa from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal Province, northwards into southern Mozambique (as far north as Inhambane), Eswatini [Swaziland], Mpumalanga Province and peripherally in Limpopo Province (Bates et al. 2014, Jacobsen 1989, Broadley 1994). Distribution records suggest there may be two subpopulations.

The population is inferred to be stable, as the species is widespread and common.

There are no major threats to this species.

Not known to be utilized or traded in any way.

Conservation

The range coincides with a number of protected areas. Improved survey data would assist to understand if the distribution gap observed is due to a lack of comprehensive sampling, or if the species does occur in two subpopulations.
